Koch Funds Land Purchase for New Tuloso-Midway School Site

Corpus Christi, TX - Company officials from Koch Petroleum Group, L.P. will present Tuloso-Midway Independent School District with $193,000 to purchase land for a new primary school to be located in Northwest Corpus Christi.

The donation will be presented during a special ceremony to be held Friday, February 11, 10:00 a.m. at the Tuloso-Midway School Auditorium.

Speakers for the event include Tuloso-Midway ISD Superintendent Dr. Stephen Waddell; Joe Coco, Vice President, Refining and Manufacturing, Koch Petroleum Group, L.P., and State Representative District 32 Gene Seaman.

"Koch has made a substantial commitment to the school children of Tuloso-Midway," says Dr. Stephen Waddell, District Superintendent. "Materially they've benefited us by generous grants, for implementing our technology program. And by far, the most important contribution they've made to this District is the contribution of their ideas and expertise in helping us build the kind of school we'll need for the 21st century."

The 15-acre site is located near the intersection of Up River Road and McKinzie Road. Construction will begin in the very near future and should take approximately 18 months to complete.

"We're proud of our relationship with Tuloso-Midway," said Joe Coco, Vice President, Refining and Manufacturing, Koch Petroleum Group, L.P. "It has been mutually beneficial. Our employees have enjoyed serving as mentors, helping to develop new educational technology and the children have learned valuable lessons about the environment through the River Watch program. With this new primary school, we can all continue to work together to better educate our young people."

"I have always been very passionate for all types of educational programs," says State Representative District 32 Gene Seaman. "Tuloso-Midway and Koch are to be commended for establishing such a strong and effective educational team. There are more jobs in Texas than we have skilled workers. With industry getting involved in educating our youth, we can lay a good foundation for learning in our elementary and intermediate schools. This soon to be built elementary school will enhance the learning opportunities for these students."

Tuloso-Midway ISD is dedicated to the development of its students to their fullest capabilities and offers a wide range of quality programs, extracurricular and fine arts and support services, to meet the intellectual, physical, emotional, and social needs of each individual student.
